Summary PUERTO RICO NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT COLA: 2.49% DUTY LOCATION: JFHQ's Command Group-PR, Fort Buchanan, PR 92nd MP BDE, Caguas, PR Responsibilities Selected applicant(s) will be required to complete an online Onboarding process. AREA 1 = All permanent employee's members (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Army National Guard AREA 2 = All indefinite employee's members (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Army National Guard AREA 3 = Currently serving members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (M-Day) AREA 4 = Prior (former) members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard AREA 5 = Current Federal Employees (from any agency) AREA 7 = US Citizens DUTIES: As a PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF) (NGT0029P01), GS-0101-11, you will directly support the development and execution of policies, programs, and procedures for Implementing Integrated primary prevention activities relating to self-directed harm (I.e., self-cutting, drug and alcohol abuse, thoughts of suicide, self-directed abusive thoughts, suicide attempts and suicides), averting harm or abuse before it occurs. Identifies risk and protective factors that lead to or protect against unhealthy or unsafe behaviors. Promote or mitigate actions relating to environmental exposure. Due to the specialty nature of these roles this position reports to the Primary Prevention Officer. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regular and recurring work is performed sitting at a desk operating office equipment, except for visits to military and non-military facilities, conferences, meetings, briefings and seminars. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed both in a normal office setting and in unit areas or installations and communities. Work involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of places such as office, training and meeting rooms, etc. Areas used typically have adequate lighting, heated and ventilation. SELECTED FACTOR: (Minimum Requirements) Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences (copy of the official transcript showing conferred Degree must be submit with the application). OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: -Copy of the Official/student transcripts showing conferred Degree must be included in order to receive credit for education. Unofficial transcripts from internet or with alterations will not be considered. To receive credit for education the information must be included in the education section of the Resume. -Copy of all supporting documents as stated in the Education portion of the job vacancy announcement must be submitted with your application. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess at least ONE (1) year in the occupational series code 0101 at the next lower-level GS-09 or THIRTY-SIX (36) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as serving as the point of contact for harm and abuse prevention programs and activities; providing program coordination and serving as the subject matter expert for the Wing/Region IPP program; serving as the Primary Prevention Integrator (PPI) managing all aspects of a complex integrated primary prevention program (P3) for the Wing/Region; serving as the Wing/Region point of contact for the suicide prevention program, workplace and domestic violence programs in a non-clinical primary prevention, here after referred to as prevention, role in coordination with applicable offices and community agencies; identifying risk and protective factors that lead to or protect against unhealthy or unsafe behaviors; examining and interpreting population data from the Wing/Region; interpreting S/T/DC policies and guidance for the operation of local P3; coordinating the implementation and coordination of all such activities at a local level; providing professional advisory services and training concerning available or ongoing violence-related prevention efforts; providing accurate and appropriate technical assistance tailored prevention issues to stakeholders and the public; developing coordinated plans for reducing risk factors and promoting protective factors for increased resiliency within the community; conducting assessments on strengths, weaknesses, opportunity, and threat (SWOT) analyses that form the basis for action, implementation, and program plan development activities; implementing state policies and other official guidance at the local level; advising leaders at all levels of best practices and evidence-based programs, policies, and plans that increase prevention readiness within their organizations; supporting inter- and intra-personal violence prevention efforts and programming through the Wing/regional leadership advisory committees, boards and working groups; collecting, consolidating, and presenting relevant prevention program data to leadership advisory committees, boards, and working groups; briefing Commanders and senior personnel on Integrated Primary Prevention (IPP), as defined in applicable policy and official guidance; serving as the Wing/Region liaison for local military and civilian agencies to coordinate collaborative prevention efforts, and establish resource links and community partnerships; establishing networking, advocacy, and collaboration processes through which to promote IPP to the community; ensuring curriculums and community intervention initiatives for each P3 are research-based and supported by the evidence; developing and overseeing healthy climate, resiliency, risk reduction activities, trainings, and communication campaigns within the Wing/Region; adopting JFHQ's activities and communication campaigns and overseeing the implementation of JFHQ's IPP strategy within communities in proximity to Units; serving as consultant and advisor on prevention communications, programming, planning, and processes; formulating strategies by unit leadership, regional community consumers, resource suppliers, and relevant personnel on prevention activities for the general population.
