PeaceHealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a Full-time position in the Operating Room at St. John Medical Center in Longview, Washington. Consider joining our OR Team in the following role:
+ **1.0 FTE Day shift Surgical Technologist**
+ Work four 10-hour shifts each week, plus rotational call
+ 5 OR Suites
+ Davinci XI for general and GYN

Job Summary
This position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.
Essential Functions
+ Arrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.
+ Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.
+ Assist in preparation and moving of patients.
+ Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
+ Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
+ Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Required: **Completion of a Surgical Technology Program or minimum of 1-year surgical technologist work experience**
+ Preferred: 1-year surgical technologist experience in a full-service Operating Room
+ Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs
+ **Required: Washington State Surgical Technologist Registration**
+ **Required: Basic Life Support Certification for healthcare provider**
+ Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist
Skills
+ Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated (Required)
+ Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others (Required)
+ Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision (Required)
+ Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications (Required)
+ Understanding of operating room protocols (Required)
Working Conditions
Lifting
+ Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
+ Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
+ Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
+ Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.
+ Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.
+ Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.
Environmental Conditions
+ Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
+ Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
+ Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
Mental/Visual
+ Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
+ Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
