Position Description
This position will be responsible for ordering, receiving, processing payment, storage and distribution of supplies, materials and equipment, including the maintenance of related records. Position is required to maintain accurate and timely records of all transactions for reviewal. Working in multiple software and applications.
The Traffic & Parking Services Department is currently seeking to fill two (2) vacant Stock Worker positions:
+ One (1) full-time, permanent position
+ One (1) full-time, temporary position with a duration of up to six months.
Work Location: This position currently works on-site only.
The City of Minneapolis does not sponsor applicants for work visas.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
+ Research prices and contact vendors to confirm in-stock status, place orders and confirm shipping dates per needs of customers.
+ Place orders for inventory.
+ Place orders for merchandise per request of authorized City employees.
+ Enter over the counter transactions into the computer for inventory and financial information by the end of each business day, ensure updating of inventory and charge out on supplies.
+ Receive orders and verify quantities and the condition of the goods ordered. Notify vendor in the event of shortages/overages or damage.
+ Create and maintain digital and/or computerized records for tracking the history of orders placed, orders received and payment of goods.
+ Maintain computerized and hard copy records of transactions.
+ Receive and verify shipments for payment of invoices by the Finance Department.
+ Process invoices, calculate costs of supplies.
+ Perform cycle counts.
+ Issue safety glasses, uniforms, boots, etc. and track transactions to ensure that established
+ regulations are followed.
+ Set up delivery day and times for special crane required deliveries.
+ Operate a forklift to receive, store and distribute larger stock items.
+ May drive a truck for pick-up or delivery of goods.
+ Answer phone calls from customers, contractors, consultants
+ Perform office duties such as filing, data entry, typing correspondence to customers, etc.
+ Create spreadsheets for tracking of orders
+ Knowledge of clerical and accounting procedures.
+ Maintain a clean and orderly stockroom and yard.
Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements: Office, warehouse and field. Work is performed in both indoor stockroom environments and outdoor yard areas, with exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and vehicle traffic. Duties require frequent standing and walking, as well as bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering inventory items and supplies weighing up to 100 pounds. Work may involve operating forklifts, handling large or bulky shipments, and climbing in and out of trucks or onto loading platforms. The position also requires maintaining an organized stockroom, moving materials in confined or crowded storage areas, and safely navigating warehouse equipment. Personal protective equipment may be required depending on the task, and adherence to all applicable safety standards and procedures is expected.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience:
One year of experience in a computerized stockroom performing duties similar to those listed above
Licenses/Certifications:
Possess and maintain a valid Drivers License
Forklift Certification required within 6 months of hire (The city will provide the training and assistance as needed)

Selection Process
The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience 100%. It is important that your application show all the relevant education and experience you possess. This information will be used to determine which candidates will proceed in the selection process. A submitted application is also used to verify the answers to any supplemental questions. Only those candidates who attain a passing score 70% on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. The City of Minneapolis Human Resources Department reserves the right to limit the number in any phase of the selection process.
Background Check
The City has determined that a criminal background check and/or qualifications check may be necessary for certain positions with this job title. Applicants may be required to sign an informed consent form allowing the City to obtain their criminal history and/or verify their qualifications in connection with the position sought. Applicants who do not sign the informed consent form will not be further considered for the position.
Drug and Alcohol Testing
All job applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test once a conditional offer of employment has been made. Applicants will be required to sign a notification and consent form prior to undergoing drug and alcohol testing. Applicants who do not consent to undergo drug and alcohol testing will not be required to do so and the City will withdraw the conditional job offer, resulting in the job applicant no longer being considered for the position.
Medical Exam
After a conditional job offer, candidates will be required to pass a medical examination which includes a physical screening.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement between the City of Minneapolis and the Laborers #363 (CLB). Eligible List Statement
The names of applicants who meet minimum qualification and who pass the screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for employment consideration. This list will be certified to the hiring manager who may use the list to fill a vacancy of the same job title. This eligible list will expire one month after it has been established.
Interview Selection
The hiring authority reserves the right to determine the maximum number of candidates to interview from the established eligible list. If the hiring authority decides to interview other than by exam score order, they may select additional people to interview based on a candidate’s education or experience related to the field, work history, or skills uniquely related to the operational needs of the position.
