    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

    Oversees and manages the safe and economical day-to-day operations of a right-of-way crew and associated equipment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Oversees tree-trimming, clearing and re-clearing of distribution and transmission power line rights of way, associated paperwork/documentation, job briefings, and routine equipment maintenance.

    + Promotes good customer relations and responds to customer complaints; enforces environmental, health, and safety standards and adherence to local state and federal regulations.

    + Prepares and submits daily work, personnel records, and other required reports to Right of Way Department.

    + Coordinates work schedule and location with other Foremen, Sr. Foremen, General Foremen, Supervisor, and cooperative’s staff. Conducts job briefings with crew before performing work and again if the work conditions change.

    + Ensures right of way crew has the proper equipment and materials needed to perform assignments. This includes the management and proper maintenance of vehicles, chippers, forestry mulchers, trim machines, chain saws, and miscellaneous equipment. Orders materials and supplies for the crew when needed.

    + Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    + Understand and utilize proper roping and rigging techniques. Must be able to perform bucket truck and/or EQ rescue

    + Remove dead or danger trees over and around energized power lines. May also work in a bucket or operate EQ in order to complete assignments.

    + Performs traffic control duties around work area as needed.

    + Able to safely and efficiently operate and maintain chainsaws.

    + The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.

    + Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

    + Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.

    + Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations from various regulatory entities, internal policies, procedures, and directives. Ensure ongoing monitoring and timely incorporation of any changes to maintain adherence to compliance standards.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    As a condition of employment, this position requires a valid driver’s license, pre-employment drug test, and must be able to pass DOT physical.

    PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Commercial Applicator Technician. Temporary Traffic Control. Valid Class A or B CDL.

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

    Outside working environment to include uneven and difficult terrain, wherein there are hazardous working conditions and potentially life-threatening situations exist (fire, chemicals, electrical sources, heights, dangerous people, etc.) all the time per job duties and responsibilities. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is continuously exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions; occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, wet or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand; regularly required to walk, taste or smell; and frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear; occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds; regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; continuously lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    Must be able to travel to various locations and stay overnight as required to complete work assignments. Must be able to work extra hours when necessary and report to work whenever needed during non-scheduled working periods. In pursuant of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to AECC/AECI standards and processes.

     

    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or at any time in the future.
