    The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Sr. Airfield Operatorto support our government customer located in Kekaha, Kauai.

     

    Independently perform a variety of work related to the operation and maintenance of Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI), Solar Taxiway Light equipment, and conduct daily checks/maintenance on the US Government UTVs. Ensures timely and efficient accomplishment of assigned duties, and reports all outages as required by the Performance Work Statement and Airfield Directives. Conduct Daily Airfield FOD checks This position will be required to support all FA-4 related tasking as required, and FA-2 tasking as requested.

    DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The individual will perform a variety of duties related to the operation and maintenance of the Flight Optical Landing System and equipment such as:

    + Operate diagnostic and other test equipment related to the PAPI maintenance repair cards (MRC), Solar Taxiway Light manufacturers maintenance specifications; research and identify parts from catalogs or online; perform maintenance, repair, overhaul and replacement of parts related to the operation of PAPI equipment and Taxi Solar way lights; and be able to operate a forklift, shop vehicles and all associated equipment.

    + Ability to work independently to maintain the PAPI system and perform Corrective Maintenance actions as needed

    + Familiarity with inspecting equipment at specified intervals; determining operational status; repairing mechanical and electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies; tuning, aligning, and adjusting equipment; performing operational checks; maintaining inspection and maintenance records.

    + Ability to be compliant with the Maintenance and Material Management (3M) system, to ensure operational readiness of equipment.

    + Ability to schedule, display and manage planned maintenance events in the System Scheduler (SKED) software

    + Operate the Airfield Sweeper in accordance with PMRF regulations, and as required for Airfield safety

    + Assist in maintaining Airfield vegetation (Trees, brush, shrubs, bushes, grass, etc.) on the airfield to be in compliance with the Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH) requirements.

    + Works with other semi-skilled and skilled craftsperson’s and coordinated with members of other activities to ensure quality and timely accomplishment of assigned duties.

    + Provides guidance, orientation and training to newly assigned employees.

    + Responsible for the care of Government equipment, tools, property and materials, and assure that they are properly maintained and safeguarded.

    + Performs specific tasks in accordance with verbal and/or written instructions.

    + Performs tasks in compliance with OPNAVINST 5100.23 Shore Safety Manual and OPNAVINST 3750.6 Naval Safety Program and use Personal protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

    + Assists with tasks associated with Formal Navy Inspections.

    + Report all system outages as required.

    + Will be cross trained/utilized as security clearance allows.

    + Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

     

    Office conditions are varied and includes physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling over 50 pounds, with a two man assist. Physical positions will include but not be limited to walking, sitting, or standing for extended periods of time, crawling, kneeling, stooping in cramped working places. Environment will include customer contact, extended workdays, in an office laboratory setting, with field assignments, sometimes in inclement weather.

    REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

    + High School diploma or equivalent

    + Must be able to obtain and maintain the Airfield Vehicle Operators Course License

    + Must have completed trade school training, correspondence school, or have a minimum of four (4) years apprenticeship or equivalent work experience.

    + 3M Training and 3M Certification required (Formal Navy 3M school desired)

    + Must have completed APAPI training course.

    + Must possess a valid State Driver’s license.

    + CDL license required (To operate Airfield Sweeper)

    + A State Motor Vehicle Certified Mechanic License (ASE) is desired

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    + Four (4) years specific work experience with the Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI).

    + Must be able to work flexible hours.

    + Must be able to take directions and instructions to perform tasks by Supervisor.

    + PAPI, Solar Taxiway Light, or electrical experience required

    + Forklift operating experience or license required

    + Must have computer skills and knowledge in use of Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook.

    REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

    + Must be a U.S. Citizen

    + Secret security clearance is required. (Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.)
