Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Located in Qualifications Section Responsibilities Pass on to other workers instructions received from supervisor and start work by assigning immediate tasks. Perform the full range of repair work from initial diagnosis and full disassembly to modification and reassembly of a wide variety of small arms including new or experimental weapons designed to meet rigid specifications. Ensure that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Check work in progress and when finished, checks for compliance with supervisor’s instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. Provide information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall works operations and problems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications About the Position: Ensure that work assignment are carried out by work group members who test and inspect a wide variety of standard and non-standard weapons, apply a high degree of skill in precision fitting and finishing of new and modified components to very close tolerance, and redesign and modify components of weapons until firing function has accomplished the degree of performance desired. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Armament Equipment Repairer Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to perform common tasks associated with the issuance of instruction for work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines, and ensuring that work assignments are carried out by other members of the group. May also complete rebuild, modification, repair, inspection, and testing for all types of small arms and artillery systems. Items include rifles, handguns machine guns, mortars, rocket launchers and recoilless systems. Items are standard military and non-standard weapons. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Employee frequently lifts subassemblies or small weapons weighing 15 to 20 pounds and often carries large assemblies or weapons weighing up to 50 pounds. Work requires walking, bending, and long periods of standing. Working Conditions: Work is performed for a preponderance of time in well-lighted and ventilated shops with occasional trips to firing ranges; shop floors are usually of cement construction. Exposure to excessive noise from test firing weapons; possible injury due to handling tools and weapons; contact with dirt, grease, dust, solvents, cleaning solutions and fumes; and more serious injury who unloading jammed or misfired weapons, ricochet bullets and bluing solutions. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
