Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Chicago, Illinois. This position requires a strong understanding of corporate tax and accounting principles, along with the ability to manage journal entries and general ledger tasks. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review corporate tax returns to ensure compliance with regulations.

• Calculate and process sales tax submissions accurately and on time.

• Record and reconcile journal entries for financial transactions.

• Maintain and update the general ledger with precision and regularity.

• Collaborate with team members to address and resolve accounting discrepancies.

• Assist in preparing financial reports and statements as required.

• Conduct tax-related research to stay updated on current laws and practices.

• Perform audits to verify the accuracy of financial data and compliance standards.

• Support the implementation of accounting software or tools as needed.

• Ensure all financial documentation is properly organized and accessible. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in corporate tax.

• Solid knowledge of corporate tax laws and regulations.

• Proficiency in handling sales tax and related processes.

• Strong experience with journal entries and general ledger management.

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a contract role.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Familiarity with accounting software and tools.

• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members.
