    The Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR) has an exciting opportunity for an administrative professional who wants to have an impact on the administration of Idaho's public water resources. IDWR is filling a Technical Records Specialist 2 position at our state office in Boise. Boise, Idaho’s capital city, is a growing urban center located near public lands and ample recreational opportunities.

     

    IDWR’s mission is to serve Idahoans by ensuring their water is conserved and available to sustain Idaho’s economy, ecosystems, and resulting quality of life. IDWR is committed to achieving its mission through innovation, efficiency, planning, and communication.

     

    To support IDWR’s mission, the successful candidate will be a part of collaborative team managing the orderly allocation of Idaho’s water resources. T he successful candidate will receive, organize, process, and maintain records for the Water Rights program. The person in this position will also compose correspondence, respond to public inquiries about water right records, and provide front desk customer service support.

    Example of Duties

    • Accomplish financial duties for the Water Supply Bank program, including collecting and issuing annual rental payments and controlling program expenditures

    • Maintain records in paper, databases, and digital image formats for the Water Supply Bank and other water right programs

    • Process Water Supply Bank applications

    • Review and prepare Water Supply Bank lease contracts and rental agreements for signature

    • Perform general administrative and clerical support to the Water Allocation Bureau, including drafting and mailing business correspondence, editing and formatting correspondence and reports, making travel arrangements, and scheduling meetings

    • Participate in front desk coverage rotation

    + Answer phones and research and answer customer questions regarding water right processing and IDWR programs

    + Communicate with customers via phone, email, and written correspondence

    Minimum Qualifications

    Experience with:

    • monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors

    • entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system

    • interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs

    • analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues

    • dealing with individuals from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in stressful situations

    • composing and proofreading business correspondence

    Desired Qualifications

    Experience with:

    • interpreting public land survey legal descriptions utilizing at least one of the following: USGS quadrangle maps, survey plats, or similar cartographic material

    • interacting with staff and members of the public in a customer service setting

    • using word processing and spreadsheet software

    • managing financial records

     

    Some knowledge of supervisory practices
