Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Cyber Command, Assessment & Authorization (A&A) located in Alexandria, Virginia. Responsibilities You will serve as a Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist and be responsible for day-to-day operation of the A&A Department and independently performs duties to manage, plan, develop, initiate, carry out, and assess critical cybersecurity operations in support of the mission. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Provide authoritative guidance to the A&A Department on all operational facets of Cyber Security and Risk Management Framework (RMF) programs. Review authorization and assurance documents to confirm risk level is within acceptable limits for each software application, system and network. Oversee the management, supervision, planning, and development of subordinates for full utilization of skills to meet the department IS objectives. Assist in the development and review of policies and procedures to ensure Information Systems reliability and accessibility. Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position. A. Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level 3 (i.e., CISSP) is required for this position in accordance with IAW Coast Guard COMDTINST 5200.3 and DODI 8570.1. Basic Requirement: Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), GS-2210-14 position: Your resume must have IT-related experience in the federal service or private sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined below. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience: In addition to meeting the basic IOR, you must also have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal service or private sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: 1) Apply advanced knowledge of Information Systems (IS) and Operational Technology (OT) security principles and concepts necessary to provide expert cybersecurity guidance in accordance with policies and standards; 2) Conduct risk assessments to provide comprehensive IS recommendations to leadership; 3) Exercise independent judgment and discretion on national security systems through monitoring and auditing operational performance and the respective classified information and/or critical infrastructure; 4) Utilize delegation authority to assign work, monitor performance, provide performance critiques, mitigate conflicts and perform administrative and workforce management; and 5) Collaborate with external/internal customer to ensure IT strategic planning and project management activities improves the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks and data.
