    Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the Radiological Mointoring Divsion of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will be responsible for the control of personnel exposure to ionizing radiation, protection against radioactive contamination, and protection of the general public against radiation associated with naval nuclear power plants. You will assure the proper control of radioactive material. You will exercise and apply broad technical knowledge to assure compliance with shipyard monitoring/control requirements. You will ensure compliance with appropriate regulations regarding security precautions. You will be responsible for administrative and technical managing of the subordinate work units responsible for the review of overall work operations. You will resolve and analyze technical problems and areas beyond the capacity of subordinates. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in the use of a full range of radiological control instrumentation and survey techniques in use within the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program to include preparing comprehensive technical reports; Experience applying all necessary requirements to provide on-scene radiological control responses for actual or potential radiological emergencies, casualties, training exercises, and proficiency drills on or off site; problems in Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program areas and support facilities including radioactive spills, waste disposal, effluent monitoring, storage, and handling of radioactive materials and equipment; Experience preventing and controlling radiological incidents and unusual events during complex operations; Experience evaluating technical work instruments, assure control of radioactive material, and radioactivity to properly control personnel exposure; Experience completing causal analysis of radiological incidents and unusual events to provide problem resolution; Experience supervising subordinates, coordinating workloads, administering personnel, equipment, evaluating workload, and developing procedures. Experience applying quantitative measurement and health physics techniques to conduct a comprehensive assessment of potential and must be willing to obtain and maintain Radiological Health Qualifications per Article 108 of NAVSEA 389-0288.
