Position Summary
The Drafter CAD Operator plays a critical role in transforming conceptual designs and engineering specifications into detailed technical drawings using advanced computer-aided design (CAD) software. This position is central to the creation and updating of telecommunications, information technology infrastructure, and cabling diagrams projects. The role involves collaborating closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure that all drawings meet project requirements and industry standards. The Drafter CAD Operator is responsible for revising and updating drawings based on feedback and changes throughout the project lifecycle.
Individual must be able to attain and maintain a valid US Government Secret security clearance to be retained in the position.
Duties & Responsibilities
+ Ensure the drawings reflect engineered solutions and be of sufficient detail to serve as integration drawings
+ Convert the mark-up drawings to final, as-built drawings
+ Completes drawing in AutoCAD to fulfill DoD standards.
+ Maintain accurate as-built drawings of the inside and outside cable plant systems
+ Utilizes GPS software/equipment, plotters, and scanners
+ Updates and maintains all OSP/ISP and remote communications facilities drawings in the CAD-CAM system
+ Maintains all site drawings in final CAD format
+ Helps customers with software issues and instructions so they may access data
+ Conducts site surveys and create drawings in the CAD-CAM system of all buildings with communications equipment and installation work requests to identify available facilities, materials and required equipment.
+ Prepares various drawings of computer models such units as construction projects or parts and assemblies, including various views, sectional profiles, irregular or reverse curves, hidden lines, and small or intricate details.
+ Prepares various drawings that communicate engineering ideas, designs, and information in support of engineering functions directly supporting DoD Enterprise infrastructure and infrastructure IT goals and projects.
+ Provides day-to-day support operations for current and future information technology services
+ Prepares reports
+ Ensures all paperwork such as required forms, records, and files pertaining to assigned work are maintained
+ Responds to telephone, written and verbal inquiries by using standard operating procedures
+ Reads, interprets and applies engineering terminology and symbols
+ Transfers engineering designs and concepts to final hard copy drawings and records that comply with specialized standards and specifications

Education & Experience Requirements
+ Associate degree or equivalent technical certification in Drafting, CAD Technology, or a related field.
+ Minimum of 5 years of professional experience operating CAD software in an engineering or architectural environment.
+ Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or MicroStation.
+ Strong understanding of technical drawing standards, symbols, and conventions.
+ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
+ National Security background investigation required, Secret
Skill & Certification Requirements
+ Proficiency in CAD software is essential for creating, modifying, and managing detailed designs that meet project specifications and industry standards.
+ Strong analytical skills support the interpretation of technical documents and the identification of potential design issues early in the drafting process.
+ Communication and collaboration skills are vital for working effectively with engineers, architects, and project teams to incorporate feedback and ensure alignment.
+ Microsoft Office Tools: Word, Power Point, and Excel
+ AutoCAD and Adobe Acrobat
+ Position requires sitting, for long periods of time. (Sedentary Work)
+ Most duties require extended use of a keyboard and computer monitor
+ Extended Telephone Use
+ May require lifting of 20-50 lbs
