A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the department of Neurosurgery under the mentorship of Joseph McCarty, PhD. The postdoctoral fellow position will involve basic and translational research in the area of brain tumor cell biology and mouse models of primary and metastatic brain cancer. There will be a particular emphasis on the brain microenvironment, including studies of how primary and metastic tumor cells co-opt the neurovascular unit/blood-brain barrier for selective growth and survival.
All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
*LEARNING OBJECTIVES*
The post-doc will receive training and mentoring in the use of mouse models and in vitro culture systems to study cell adhesion and signaling pathways involved in tumor cell-stromal cell interactions. Biochemical, molecular genetical and cell biological techniques will also be emphasized.
*ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS*
The applicant should have a PhD and/or MD as well as peer-reviewed publications or manuscripts under review in internationally recognized journals. A strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology is also required.
