Summary This position reports directly to Joint Chief of Staff, responsible for providing Directorate level efficiencies, oversight, leadership and direction in the support of the Family Support Services initiatives, programs and initiatives. This National Guard position is for a MILITARY & FAMILY READINESS MANAGER, Position Description Number NGT5701100. The position is responsible for providing supervision over volunteers, civil service employees, and Active Guard Reserve (AGR) personnel. Responsibilities As aMILITARY AND FAMILY READINESS MANAGER ,GS -0301-12, you will: Serve as TAG advisor on National Guard Family Programs throughout the state. Establish performance indicators and measure these against program goals and objectives. Develop guidance regarding the performance of the family program function throughout geographically separated units. Assess the productivity, effectiveness and efficiency of program operations. Serve as the direct advisor to the TAG on family readiness, quality of life and other Family Program matters and as the policy advisor in the development and implementation of work/life services and activities. Provide advice on National and State, military and family member's well-being programs and initiatives. Determine performance expectations for all subordinates, federal, and volunteers; recommend/approve the selection, recognition, award and or removal of volunteers. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Areas of Consideration: V All permanent, onboard, Title 5 employees within JFHQ, Joint Staff - J9 Additional Employment Requirements: Participation in direct deposit is mandatory Must possess Active, Confidential Security Clearance May be required to successfully complete a probationary period Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation Qualifications Work involves supervising or performing work requiring knowledge of: (a) the basic processes of administration, (b) the principles and standard practices of management, and (c) the techniques of organization, direction, coordination, and control. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. Education Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university.
