    Job Description

    As an L7 Proxy consulting member, you will architect, design, implement, and deliver robust and scalable OCI Layer 7 proxy platform to enable secure and reliable application delivery across Oracle’s cloud and enterprise environments. You will be responsible for designing the end to end system to support high-scale microservices architectures, implementing advanced traffic management and security policies, and driving automation for operational efficiency.

    Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Architect, design and deliver a consolidated L7 proxy platforms (e.g., Envoy, NGINX, HAProxy, API Gateways) across cloud environments and focus on performance and availability,

    + Design and implement L7 platform features such as traffic routing, load balancing, SSL/TLS termination, authentication, and authorization mechanisms etc. at the application layer.

    + Collaborate with Product, security, networking, and application teams to integrate L7 security controls (WAF, DDoS mitigation, rate limiting, etc.).

    + Collaborate with internal teams to migrate to the L7 platform and ensure zero downtime.

    + Evaluate new technologies and integrations such as micro-containers, micro-VMs and fleet management strategies to enhance platform efficiency, resiliency, and scalability.

    + Automate the configuration, deployment, and monitoring of proxies health using infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines.

    + Play the incident commander role and SME for L7 Platform during production incident and provide L1/L2 support to the team, mentor junior team members as needed.

    + Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward incident management.

    + Effective communication and documentation abilities.

    + Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

    + 7+ years of hands-on experience with proxies (NGINX, Envoy, HAProxy, etc.) in large-scale production environments and cloud distributed systems.

    + Strong understanding of network protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, TCP/IP), application layer security, and service-to-service communication patterns.

    + Experience in automation and configuration management tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.).

    + Proficient in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.).

    + Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).

    + Familiarity with cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP) and container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).

    + Experience with API gateway products (Kong, Apigee, etc.) and service meshes (Istio, Linkerd) is a plus.

    US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

     

    Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

     

    Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
