    **Job Title:** Superintendent – Dredging and Sediment Removal Operations

    **Location:** Remote preferred Based out of Florida

    **Reports to:** Director of Operations

    Compensation Range: $80,000 - $120,000

    What We Are Looking For

     

    We are seeking a Superintendent with specialized experience in dredging and sediment removal operations and disaster recovery. This role is critical to coordinating field activities, managing subcontractors, and ensuring project milestones are met. The Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing dredge barge operations and sediment removal from waterways impacted by storms. Success in the first 12 months includes effective team leadership, timely project execution, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.

    What You Will Do

    + Study contracts to plan procedures, staffing requirements, and timelines.

    + Order tools and materials to align with project schedules.

    + Direct personnel and subcontractors to coordinate work phases and prevent delays.

    + Resolve workforce complaints and grievances in collaboration with supervisory staff.

    + Collaborate with project management, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve issues and improve methods.

    + Inspect work for adherence to contract terms and schedules.

    + Prepare and review daily reports on progress, materials, labor, and costs.

    + Supervise 5 or more field employees.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    + 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent or similar role in dredging, sediment removal, disaster recovery and/or construction.

    + Experience managing a dredge barge and sediment removal operations.

    + Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

    + Flexibility to travel as needed.

    + First Aid/CPR certification.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    + Proficiency in MS Office including Excel, Word, and Access.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Prior experience as a Superintendent on high-volume disaster recovery projects.

    + Ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently.

    + Degree preferred.

    + Strong team-building and time management skills.

    + Commitment to quality and productivity standards.

    + Observance of safety and security procedures.

    As a Superintendent in dredging operations, you will lead field teams in high-impact disaster recovery projects. You’ll be responsible for coordinating complex logistics, managing subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. Expect a dynamic work environment with travel, long hours, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in community recovery efforts.

    Physical Requirements and Environment

    + Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, and balance in varying conditions.

    + Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.

    + Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    + Must have specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    + Must be willing to wear PPE including hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, etc.

    + Ability to work in challenging environments including adverse weather, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, high places, airborne particles, electrical shock risk, vibration, and loud noise levels.
