    What We Are Looking For

     

    The Disaster Recovery & Debris Removal Supervisor will oversee field teams and subcontractors performing large-scale cleanup, recovery, and debris removal operations. This role ensures compliance with contracts, safety protocols, and project timelines, while maintaining efficient coordination between labor teams, project management, and inspectors. Success in this position means leading safe, efficient, and compliant recovery efforts that help restore communities after disaster events.

    What You Will Do

    + Direct and coordinate the activities of workers and subcontractors engaged in disaster recovery and debris removal.

    + Review contracts and project plans to determine timelines, staffing requirements, and work procedures.

    + Order and track procurement of tools, materials, and equipment to meet project schedules.

    + Supervise daily operations, ensuring adherence to contract specifications, safety standards, and productivity goals.

    + Confer with project management, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve on-site challenges and improve work processes.

    + Maintain accurate daily progress, labor, and cost reports, adjusting schedules as needed.

    + Inspect work for quality, compliance, and safety standards.

    + Provide leadership and resolve personnel issues or grievances as they arise.

    + Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.

    Required Qualifications

    + Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in construction, disaster recovery, or debris removal operations.

    + Proven ability to manage teams and subcontractors in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.

    + Strong knowledge of contract compliance, scheduling, and reporting practices.

    + Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

    + Ability to travel and work extended hours in varying field conditions.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience working on FEMA, Corps of Engineers, or other government-funded disaster response projects.

    + OSHA safety training and/or relevant certifications.

    + Experience using project management or field reporting software.

    + Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

    Physical Requirements and Environment

    + Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, and balance in varying conditions.

    + Must be able to use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively.

    + Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    + Must have specific vision abilities including close, distance, and color vision.

    + Must be willing to wear PPE (hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, etc.).

    + Ability to work in challenging environments including outdoor weather, mechanical areas, heights, confined spaces, and loud noise levels.

    + Commitment to following safety standards and protocols.

    Qualifications

    Essential Qualifications:

    + 5 plus years' experience in a Superintendent or similar role in field/disaster recovery and/or construction.

    + Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    + Travel

    + First Aid/CPR

    + Excellent verbal and written communication

    + Working knowledge of MS Office including, Excel, Word, and

    Desired Qualifications:

    + Prior experience at the Superintendent level on Disaster Recovery projects with a high volume of varied debris removal

    + Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; develops alternative solutions

    + Contributes to building a positive team spirit
