    Description & Requirements

Bloomberg Enterprise Data provides financial institutions a platform to make hundreds of thousands of requests for billions of data points each day, spanning the full range of the financial industry, including ESG, Companies, Pricing, Corporate Actions, Regulatory, and Reference Data. To meet the demand, the Data License department is responsible for gathering, transforming, analyzing, distributing and metering all the data our clients request through a distributed workflow platform, microservices, and web integrations via our Enterprise Data Portal.

The Data License Meta Applications team builds and maintains applications and tools to provide consistent and reliable metadata to teams within and outside of Data License. We aim to make it simple and fast to onboard new types of metadata. We employ a read only federated model and source our metadata from various different systems and interfaces. Our systems are used by teams for critical workflows as well as by our enterprise data portal. We handle millions of requests each day and our systems need to be resilient and scalable to handle the ever increasing load. Our main application is a REST based https server written in Python using FastAPI. We follow software development best-practices and use the latest technologies at Bloomberg.

This role will be a good fit if you’re interested in handling complex distributed workflows, working with stakeholders across product and engineering, and making an impact in a fast-evolving environment.

    You'll need to have:

+ 4+ years experience working with an object-oriented programming language (Python, Java, C/C++), Python preferred

+ A Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work experience

    + Experience designing large-scale applications

+ Demonstrated ability to complete projects that required significant problem solving and communication skills

+ Proven ability to collaborate with multiple teams in a fast-paced environment

+ Ability to learn new skills and technologies and adapt quickly

    We'd love to see:

+ Experience building REST applications using FastAPI, Flask, or Django

+ Experience working with low-latency, high-volume, and high-availability distributed systems including deployment, monitoring, and building robust fault-tolerant systems

+ Developing software in a Linux environment

+ Proficiency with development tools such as debuggers and memory profilers

+ Experience with application monitoring tools or services

+ Experience in an agile or iterative software development process

+ Contributions to Open Source projects
