Responsibilities:
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Medical Education Simulation Laboratory Assistant, helps ensure high quality instructional and assessment programs at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) by supporting faculty, medical students, residents, and other health care professionals.
Working with colleagues in the Institute for Innovative Education (IIE), the Medical Education Simulation Laboratory Assistant provides administrative and clinical support for growing, robust clinical skills and simulation programs by assisting with event set-up and take-down and ordering of supplies. The team relies on this roleto ensure that the correct room is set up at the designated time with the appropriate materials. The materials vary, depending on the class, but may include animal or human tissues, organs, or cadavers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Assists students and faculty with the preparation, set-up, and implementation of skills sets demonstrations, evaluations, and practice.
+ Labs require set-up and clean-up, maintenance of supplies and specimens, microbiology supplies, human or animal tissues and human cadavers.
+ Semester-long labs require daily support.
+ Manages billing and invoicing for designated labs; manages the inventory and ordering of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment for all labs and simulation spaces
+ Cross trains with, and supports, simulation, standardized patients, and other departmental staff and programs as necessary.
+ Assists with simulation set-ups and take-downs, including transporting and setting up mannequins, computing equipment and supplies.
+ AHA Training Center Admin and RQI Support – manages the daily operations of the AHA Training Center including maintaining records of courses, keeping inventory of supplies, processing payments, securing BLS instructors for in-person classes, and managing registration.
+ RQI support includes managing the HeartCode mannequin/computer room, attending monthly meetings and managing registration
+ Ensures compliance with OSHA and University of Rochester safety and regulatory standards by conducting monthly checks of the eye wash stations and coordinating air quality inspections of the lab spaces
+ SAGES proctor – supervises high-stakes test to ensure integrity; maintains FES scheduling through Web assessor and creates user ID in MentorLearn as students sign up; arranges practice sessions for internal and external learners
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ Associate’s degree Required
+ 2-3 years specialized experience in a related field Required
+ or equivalent combination of education and experience Required
