Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville is seeking several Student Success Navigators (SSN).
This role is a three-year, temporary position and is designed to empower recent graduates to prepare for professional positions. The Student Success Navigators will create and implement programs, initiatives, and activities to enhance student involvement, belonging, and academic success. These staff members will serve as role models to Morrisville students, encourage positive engagement, and promote leadership development.
The four Student Success Navigators (SSNs) will assist with promoting a positive and vibrant community for students to enhance student sense of belonging, student success, and student retention. The SSNs will be assigned to Student Affairs or The CORE but will work in collaboration on larger campus-based initiatives such as Orientation, Stomp Out Hate, Heritage Month Celebrations, etc. They will work with the Vice-President of Student Affairs and Inclusive Engagement (VPSAIE) and the Executive Director of Opportunity and Access Programs (DAP) to create initiatives that impact student success, belonging, and community building.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Serve as part of the CARE outreach for students. Attend MHFA training.
+ Serve as Restorative Justice Facilitator for the campus Conduct System after receiving training.
+ Serve as ARP coaches for students as designated.
+ Provide evening weekend programming and coverage in the Student Activities Center on a rotating basis.
+ Serve as role models to Morrisville students, encourage positive engagement, and promote leadership development.
+ In addition to the responsibilities of their assigned roles, incumbents will be expected to participate in the following:
+ Three-day onboarding led by System Administration and campus staff
+ Weekly one-on-one meetings with assigned supervisor
+ Monthly group meetings with System Administration staff
+ A minimum of three professional development sessions each semester
+ Completion of a capstone project at the completion of each year, which will be presented on campus during the May Assessment Day and in June at the SUNY System offices.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree from a SUNY Institution
+ Student leadership experience
+ Availability to work evenings and weekends
+ Experience in program planning and implementation
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with EOP or other Access Programs
+ Dedication to student success
