**Description:** The Chief of Staff \(CoS\) will serve as the Legal Department’s lead operating professional responsible for developing, implementing and driving 1LMX transformation through the development of annual goals and objectives and metrics to measure progress\. The CoS will work on\-site at Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, MD\. The CoS will report to and
assist the Senior Vice President & General Counsel \(SVP\) in all matters related to the operations of the Legal Department, including budgeting, scheduling, travel and event planning as well as preparation for internal and external speaking engagements\.
The CoS will also ensure that technology solutions, including AI enablement, are integrated safely, ethically, and efficiently across the Legal Department\. The CoS will also serve as the Department’s POC for all 1LMX\-related matters and as the driver of the Department’s AI strategy\. More specifically, the CoS will be responsible for:
• Partnering with Legal SVP, VPs, and staff to develop and execute operational plans and the Department’s technological and AI strategy\.
• Anticipating SVP needs and proactively identify technology driven collaboration opportunities across Legal, Business Areas, and functional partners \(e\.g\., HR, Finance, Supply Chain\)\.
• Defining and tracking AI related operational, cultural, and strategic performance indicators \(adoption rates, CoS savings\)\.
• Managing overall Legal operations, the operations team and the Department’s technological plans including its AI strategy; collaborating with HR on organizational changes\.
• Directing the administrative budget, financial, and operational analytics and activities for the Legal Department including implementation of the Department’s AI strategy and its 2026 partnership with the Lockheed Martin AI Center\.
• Leading process improvement initiatives that leverage OneLM Transformation capabilities and AI automation\.
• Overseeing strategic and cultural operational activities—from AI development, integration and through implementation and change management—ensuring alignment with enterprise wide AI standards\.
• Building and developing effective partnerships with Legal senior executives, the Lockheed Martin AI Center, Enterprise Business & Digital Transformation , and business stakeholders to advance technological initiatives\.
• Acting as the SVP’s representative across business and functional elements, articulating the Department’s strategy for technological solutions, , benefits, and compliance requirements\.
• Executing special projects, including pilot programs for emerging legal AI technologies, AI driven knowledge management platforms, and cross functional AI governance pilots\.
• Willingness to travel with SVP when necessary

Basic Qualifications:
• JD and active admission to a U\.S\. bar, and/or degree from an accredited 4\-year university or college with a business or technology major
• Min 10 years’ legal practice experience with preference for prior in\-house or government service
• Familiarity with AI model risk management, bias mitigation, and data privacy regulations \(e\.g\., GDPR, CCPA\)
• Track record of successfully leading operational transformations, budgeting, and KPI development
• Demonstrated experience with legal tools and AI integration \(e\.g\., e discovery, AI based legal research\)\.
• Experience driving adoption of new technologies, including training, governance, and cultural integration
Desired Skills:
• Proven ability to partner with cross functional leaders \(HR, IT, Risk\) and internal and external vendors
• Excellent written and oral skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Proficient with PowerPoint, Excel and other presentation platforms

**Ability to Work Remotely:** Part\-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility\. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process\.
**Work Schedules:** Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees\. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed\. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits\.
**Schedule for this Position:** 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
**Pay Rate:** The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York \(excluding most major metropolitan areas\), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $195,000 \- $310,500\. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location\. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only\. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as \(but not limited to\) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer\.

\(Washington state applicants only\) Non\-represented full\-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off \(PTO\) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays\. Represented full time employees accrue 6\.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays\. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year\.
This position is incentive plan eligible\.
