Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (USC Mann) is seeking candidates for an Adjunct Lecturer position to teach within need areas as designated by the school and the departments therein. These may include single or multiple instructor courses within the professional and graduate programs of USC Mann. The course or courses may be required, or elective offerings as designated by the curriculum within the professional and graduate programs and are either a semester or weeks in duration depending on the course. The degree bearing programs and courses in which contributions from the Adjunct Lecturer may be sought include:

Doctor of Pharmacy (PHRD 642 – Sports and Dietary Supplements)

Doctor of Pharmacy (PHRD 517 – Pharmacogenetics)

Master of Science in Healthcare Decision Analysis

Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology

Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics

Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical and Health Economics

Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Regulatory and Quality Sciences

Within these nationally recognized programs, many of the graduates proceed to high quality post-graduate residency, fellowship, and post-graduate training, with further grooming toward career paths as practitioners, researchers and administrators in all areas in healthcare and as leaders in academic, corporate and municipal institutions. The teaching position candidate will generally accept responsibility for one course within their area of expertise, taking ownership of all aspects of developing content and teaching lectures, interactive small group sessions and workshops, and overseeing projects. Opportunities for mentoring are encouraged.

    Required Credentials and Experience:

Applicants must have an advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, or an equivalent degree, preferably in a health- related field) and demonstrated expertise specific to the course and curricular needs. A record of professional leadership, teaching excellence and academic experience is also preferred.

    Application Procedure:

Positions are available starting in the coming semester. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Qualified individuals are requested to apply online at https://usccareers.usc.edu. Applicants should electronically submit a current curriculum vitae, personal statement that includes teaching philosophy, previous teaching evaluations (if with prior institution of higher learning), and the names and contact information of three references. This position does not lead to any consideration for tenure or permanent or fulltime employment, and the promotion track for adjunct lecturers will be utilized for advancement. The candidate is expected to have gainful employment via professional job activities executed outside of USC. A competitive salary is offered, but the number of hours does not meet the requirements for the offering of benefits.

    Compensation:

The hourly rate range for this position is $100.00 - $250.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

The University of Southern California is actively committed to equal opportunity, and diversity and inclusion within its faculty hiring practices; so qualified candidates from underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply.
