Phlebotomist – Patient Service Center (PSC)

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team in a Patient Service Center (PSC) environment, performing an average of 25 blood draws per day for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent patient interaction abilities, and experience in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities

+ Perform venipuncture and specimen collection (blood, urine, fecal) following established protocols.

+ Clearly and courteously explain collection procedures to patients.

+ Demonstrate proper technique using straight and butterfly needles.

+ Accurately match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

+ Package and store specimens according to temperature and transport requirements to maintain integrity.

+ Update patient information and record maintenance data.

+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual department training.

+ Answer phone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed.

+ Assist with troubleshooting, training, and workflow improvement recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications

+ Valid Phlebotomy Certification (as required by state regulations).

+ High School Diploma or GED.

+ Minimum 2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

+ Experience with pediatrics and geriatrics required.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

+ PSC or hospital experience is a plus.

Additional Details

+ Average of 25 draws per day.

+ Work with patients from pediatrics to geriatrics.

+ Must fully understand physician orders and comply with all safety protocols.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Shenandoah, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
