+ Develop and implement backup and recovery solutions to meet business needs and service level agreements.

+ Configure, install, and maintain hardware and software for data backup and storage.

+ Perform data restores and disaster recovery tests.

+ Monitor backup jobs, analyze logs, and troubleshoot and resolve failures.

+ Manage storage infrastructure.

+ Ensure data integrity and security.

+ Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations and processes, and generate reports for audits and compliance.

+ Primarily responsible for the design, configuration, and implementation of the data storage environment with particular emphasis on backup and recovery solutions.

+ Provide both guidance and hands on build support.

+ Perform regular data restores and conduct disaster recovery drills to verify backup integrity and preparedness.

+ Manage and optimize storage systems, analyze capacity needs, and ensure secure storage of backup data.

+ Work with other IT teams, such as system administrators and database administrators, to identify and resolve data protection issues.

+ Configuring on-prem clients for cloud backups.

+ Forecasting storage needs based on backup metrics and usage patterns.

+ Optimizing backup and recovery system performance.

+ Creating and maintaining system configuration documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Minimum Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; Master’s Degree preferred

+ 10 years of experience and a BS and MS degree. Bachelor of Science (BS) can be substituted with an additional 4 years of related experience. Masters (MS) can be substituted with an additional 2 years of related experience.

+ 5+ years providing technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations. designs, builds, and implements network systems

Other Job Specific Skills

+ Proficiency with enterprise backup software (e.g., Veritas NetBackup , Commvault ) Cohesity, Rubrik and backup appliance.

+ direct experience engineering storage solutions involving SAN, NAS, and cloud storage.

+ direct experience providing IT operations support for various operating systems and their file systems; with a strong preference for Windows Server 2019/2022/2025 and Red Hat Linux 7/8/9.

+ Knowledge of database agents and how to back up key applications like SQL , Oracle , and Exchange , DB2.

+ Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex issues.

+ Ability to communicate technical information effectively with other teams.

+ Ability and willingness to come onsite periodically to Springfield, VA or Culpepper, VA client locations.

Compensation Ranges

Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role.
