    Summary:Mechanical Laboratory Technician - Tempe, AZ. Phoenix National Labs in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Mechanical Laboratory Technician to test metals, plastics, rubbers, ceramics and other materials as well as support nondestructive testing and metallurgical services. This is a permanent job typically working 40-50 hours per week. Local candidates and those willing to relo to Tempe, AZ, at their own expense encouraged to apply.

    Responsibilities/Duties:

    + Operating testing machines that determine physical properties and strength of materials

    + Prepare test specimens

    + Calculate material properties based on test results

    + Determine acceptability of test results to job specifications

    + Prepare reports

    Qualifications

    Requirements/Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and mathematical skills. A two- or four-year Engineering Technology Degree or equivalent is preferred. Requires relo to Tempe, AZ for non-local candidates.

    Work Conditions:

    + Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.

    + May be required to work from heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, man‑baskets, etc.

    + May be required to work in confined spaces which will require crawling, stooping, climbing, etc.

    + Work in and around operating equipment and industrial environments.

    + Work with radiation and hazardous materials such as cleaners, penetrants, film developing chemicals, etc.

    + Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds.
