Opportunity
The Heavy Haul Project Manager is responsible for managing Heavy Haul Focused ATS projects and Wind Operating and Maintenance (O &M) cargo while serving as a subject matter expert for successful project implementation and execution. This position will plan, organize, coordinate, and manage all aspects of project cargo delivery and serve as the primary point of contact for the customer. Serving as the project leader, will work cross-functionally with various internal and external departments/personnel to solve problems and keep the project on schedule and on budget. The purpose of the role is to ensure the required resources are deployed; including, safety, compliance, contract, and billing, requirements are being completed according to specification. Also responsible for strengthening and enhancing the customer base by implementing sound marketing and customer service principles to sell ATS Heavy Haul services to potential customers and serve as liaison between the customer and ATS operations staff.
Scope of Opportunity including Customer Service
+ Serve as complete project contact person for the customer, providing timely updates, processing changes, communicating changes, and handling any concerns or issues affecting the project.
+ Execute to the truck project production plan and contractual obligations.
+ Lead and facilitate conference calls, meetings, and delegate project tasks to achieve deadlines.
+ Monitor permit and escort costs, receivables, and contract terms for each stage of the project.
+ Organize and schedule the pick-up and deliveries of cargo.
+ Ensure routes are established and properly vetted and coordinates third party project services to meet deadlines.
+ Coordinate and organize how the cargo being transported is loaded and secured.
+ Ensure all pre-project technical requirements are achieved.
+ Coordinate any miscellaneous or special customer requests to complete the project.
+ Ensure project safety guidelines and protocols are being followed and assist with accident investigations including a root cause analysis.
+ Manage site supervisor duties and their project performance, coordinate with their primary internal contact as needed and approve weekly invoices.
Customer Service
+ Promote and sell ATS service to active, inactive, and potential customers in accordance with company and department quality, sales, utilization, and profit objectives.
+ Contact active, inactive, or potential customers to sell ATS service to them through inside sales efforts (i.e., telemarketing, e-mail).
+ Respond to customers’ requests for service, providing information, entering load information, into LME, and negotiating terms and conditions of sales (i.e., rates, credit, special conditions).
+ Qualify new customers by matching ATS and customer needs (geographies, products, objectives, etc.).
+ Enter and record all terms and conditions of sales/loads (i.e., load specifications, negotiated rates, dates) into LME.
+ Provides professional, courteous customer service by serving as liaison between customer and ATS operations communicating customer needs
+ Obtains credit approval on customers' loads by verifying current credit status and working with the credit department and making C.O.D arrangements as needed.
+ Assist with pricing of non-wind projects.
Skillset for Success
+ Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or marketing preferred, and/or equivalent work experience in related fields.
+ Two years of transportation industry experience or project management experience preferred.
+ A good understanding of marketing, sales, and customer service principles, and a strong working knowledge of heavy haul freight and specialized equipment usually gained through 1 - 2 years of training in related area and/or equivalent related experience.
+ Must have excellent analytical, customer relations, sales, and negotiation skills, general knowledge of U.S. geography and basic map-reading skills.
+ Excellent computer (Word, Excel, and Outlook, etc.) and internet; LME experience preferred.
+ Robust critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
+ Strong time management and organizational skills to prioritize projects and deadlines.
+ Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, listening) to train people and work cross-functionally with all management levels in a company both internally and externally.
+ Ability to adapt to an ever-changing work environment; able to deal with frequent change, delays, and unexpected events.
+ Exceptional mathematical skills to control profit/loss, monitor budgets, and pricing models.
+ Ability to understand contract terms and conditions and understand technical drawings.
+ Aptitude to analyze information; develops alternative solutions and communicate results.
+ Ability to work flexible shifts as needed to meet company deadlines, and travel to customer locations as needed.
+ Willing and able to travel infrequently, including overnight travel.
Compensation & Benefits
+ The base salary range for this position is $45,000 to $67,000 and in addition, this opportunity will be eligible for a position specific, performance-based incentive program with an annual target earning incentive of $18,000 to $40,000+. Base salary offered is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, and geographic location as compared to others doing substantially similar work.
