Akima is seeking a seasoned **Business Development Director** to lead growth and capture efforts within our **Federal Civilian Financial and Compliance portfolio** , targeting agencies such as the **Department of the Treasury, IRS, Bureau of Fiscal Service, FDIC** , Federal regulatory bodies, and other finance related federal clients.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and execute a strategic growth plan for the FedCiv Financial and Compliance market.
+ Identify, qualify, and shape new opportunities — manage full capture lifecycles from pre-RFP through proposal submission and contract award.
+ Build and cultivate senior-level relationships with stakeholders across Treasury and financial / regulatory agencies (CIO, financial management, procurement, mission owners).
+ Lead capture teams, coordinate internal resources (solutions, pricing, operations, compliance), and drive win strategy alignment.
+ Provide customer intelligence, market/competitive analysis, and insights to influence solution development and positioning.
+ Manage opportunity pipeline using CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce), delivering accurate forecasts and reports to leadership.
+ Oversee proposal development efforts, ensuring compliance, compelling messaging, and alignment with customers’ financial and IT needs.
+ Represent Akima in customer engagements, industry conferences, and agency events to expand market visibility and relationships.
Qualifications
+ 10+ years of experience in federal business development or capture management within FedCiv / financial / regulatory agency space.
+ Proven track record of leading capture teams and winning government contracts, preferably with Treasury or financial regulatory clients.
+ In-depth understanding of federal financial management missions, procurement processes, and agency pain-points.
+ Strong executive-level relationship building and communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage complex capture processes end-to-end: pipeline, strategy, teaming, proposal, price-to-win, compliance.
+ Proficiency with CRM and pipeline management tools; ability to produce clear business forecasts and pipeline reports.
+ **This Hybrid position requires that you live within commuting distance from Herndon, VA.**
Desired Qualifications:
+ Existing contacts within Treasury bureaus or other financial / regulatory agencies.
+ Background in IT modernization, cloud migration, cybersecurity, financial systems, data management, or related services relevant to finance agencies.
+ Familiarity with federal contracting vehicles and small-business/8(a) set-asides (if applicable).
