    Post-Doctoral Fellow - 38479 Faculty

    This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 2-year postdoctoral research fellowship designed to support the development of a Fellow who wishes to become an independent investigator in the field of child maltreatment and/or child welfare. We expect the candidate will be within 5-years of receiving a doctoral degree. The Fellow is expected to assist and collaborate on projects and programs at the Center, engage in scholarly activities, and participate in coursework, workshops and seminars toward the development of an independent program of research. There may also be opportunities for clinical supervision as well as collaboration with several multidisciplinary, multi-university research groups. In addition, the Fellow will have opportunities to publish and to apply for external funding. Current research projects at the Kempe Center focus on children who are at risk for or have experienced child maltreatment and/or other types of child trauma as well as youth-serving systems including child welfare, community mental health, medicine, ethics and policy. Specific duties will vary depending on Fellow's interests, skill set, and current projects and needs at the Kempe Center. Faculty and program mentors will work with the Fellow to design a curriculum of educational activities and specific set of expectations including instructional activities, scholarly products, and Center program support activities.

    - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

     

    + 1+ year of research experience in area(s) of child/adolescent development, mental health research, intervention development, epidemiology, health or social service policy, implementation/dissemination research, children's rights, pediatric ethics, or related fields

    + 1+ year of experience with computer software including Microsoft Office products, reference products (e.g., EndNote, Zotera, etc.) and one or more statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, MPlus) **Preferred Qualifications:**

    + 1+ year of experience specifically in the area of child maltreatment research

    + 1+ year of experience preparing manuscripts for publication

    + 1+ year of experience working on funded research

    + 1+ year experience successfully communicating and collaborating with community-based partners or constituencies. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    + Ability to work independently within a research setting

    + Strong research skills and reasoning ability

    + Ability to manage time effectively while working on multiple projects

    + Ability to publish scholarly works and apply for research funding
