We are seeking an **Auxiliary Operator** to join our driven research-focused team. This is an amazing opportunity to work with a group that develops and supports a wide array of outstanding health sciences research programs. As part of this team, you will help foster programs across basic, translational, mechanistic, and population research- supporting vital operations that keep these programs running safely and efficiently.
The Auxiliary Operator, reporting to the Operations Shift Supervisor, is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation, mechanical systems, and electrical equipment within a power plant environment. This role supports the safe start-up, operation, and shutdown of plant equipment from outside the control room while adhering to all safety and environmental regulations to ensure the protection of employees and the public.
Pay: $28/hr
1** **st** **& 2** **nd** **Shift: 7am-7pm & 7pm-7am with OT
Rotating schedule after training (details discussed during interviews); Four-shift rotation (A, B, C, D) providing 24/7/365 coverage
Contract: 11 months, with the possibility of extension or conversion
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Ensure safe and efficient operation of the power plant, auxiliary equipment, and balance-of-plant systems outside the control room.
+ Perform equipment and system start-up, operation, and shutdown procedures per plant procedures, technical manuals, or direction from the Control Room Operator.
+ Monitor, record, and adjust local operating parameters to maintain effective plant performance.
+ Support Control Room Operators in daily operations with minimal guidance.
+ Operate and maintain all plant equipment, including local operation through PLC panel interfaces.
+ Communicate equipment issues, unusual conditions, and operational updates to Control Room Operators.
+ Effectively utilize the computerized maintenance management system, entering accurate data aligned with maintenance standards.
Desired Background
+ High School Diploma or GED required
+ 2+ years of industry experience
+ Skilled operation and maintenance of power facility equipment.
+ Strong mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical systems knowledge.
+ Understanding of core power plant operational processes.
+ Ability to read and interpret company policies, procedures, and technical instructions.
+ Knowledge of equipment isolation and tagging procedures.
+ Subcontractors must possess a valid North Carolina State Contractor’s License.
