Job Summary:
The Safety Manager is responsible for managing and directing the implementation of Safety Programs for the Distribution Center, OSHA compliance, and employee safety training. The Safety Manager will work closely with the Distribution HR Team in regards to light duty and associate injuries.
Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
+ Manage safety compliance by implementing and supporting on-site safety and health programs through on-site training, performing on-site inspections, auditing safety programs, and making recommendations for corrective actions and tracking those actions to closure.
+ Conduct risk hazard assessments and incident investigations and implement safety corrective actions to control hazards identified during surveys.
+ Develop and implement annual Risk Reduction Plan to ensure risk hazards are eliminated or reduced.
+ Work with Engineering on all projects to ensure safety standards are developed into plans from conception.
+ Manage Vendor/Contractor Safety Program to ensure all contractors meet Company guidelines.
+ Analyze data to ensure incidents/injuries have solid plans to reduce reoccurrence or develop into a safety trend
+ Develop and deliver training programs involving health and safety.
+ Manages staff, including providing coaching and training, setting goals, evaluating performance, planning staff assignments and development, and making and approving people management decisions (i.e. recruitment, promotions, terminations, and salary changes)
+ Actively seeks opportunities to get employees engaged in safety, environmental, process changes and overall improvement efforts.
+ Follow all EHS/OSHA guidelines and applicable procedures.
Education and Requirements:
+ Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety or related area of focus.
+ At least 5 years of progressive Health, Safety, and/or Distribution experience.
+ Demonstrated experience leading change management efforts affecting safety and environmental practices required.
+ Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs Proven leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated abilities to both work collaboratively and influence
+ Knowledge of federal/state/local safety and Worker's Compensation regulations is required.
+ Must possess well developed speaking and writing skills with ability to communicate effectively with all groups of associates and leaders
