Special Education Teacher – Beaverton, OR
Start Date: January 5, 2026
Contract Length: Through June 10, 2026 (remainder of the 2025–2026 school year)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:55 AM – 3:55 PM (plus prep time)
Hours: ~37.5 paid hours/week (30-min unpaid lunch)
Grade Level: Upper Elementary (4th–5th grade)
Caseload: Estimated 30–40 students (to confirm during interview)
Role Overview
+ Provide individualized instruction and behavioral support for students with special needs in an Emotional Growth Center behavioral classroom.
+ Collaborate with general education staff and implement IEPs per Oregon SPED regulations.
+ Manage challenging behaviors (hitting, kicking, biting, elopement, task refusal) using approved de-escalation strategies.
+ Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to professional standards.
Qualifications
+ Required: Active Oregon Special Education Teaching License.
+ Preferred:
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ 1+ year teaching experience
+ Familiarity with Oregon SPED laws and IEP requirements
+ CPR certification and compliance with health regulations
Preferred Experience
+ Behavioral classroom experience.
+ Endorsement as Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) or similar.
+ Ability to share successful behavioral intervention strategies during interview.
