    Description

    Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and highly motivated Intern with strong quantitative skills to join our Global Drug Discovery Sciences department located at our Ridgefield, Connecticut facility. As an Intern, you will support development and validation of mathematical, computational and statistical models that describe pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) and toxicities of biologics (e.g., T-cell engagers, cytokines, antibodies) in preclinical animals and humans.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Assist in developing ordinary differential equations (ODE) models, statistical models, and mechanistic PK/PD models to simulate toxicities of biologics especially cytokine release syndrome (CRS).

    • Apply statistical and machine-learning approaches to identify biomarkers/predictors and predict clinical grades of CRS

    • Assist in creating dose-optimization and CRS-mitigation simulations (e.g., step-up dosing, priming doses)

    • Assist in importing historical PK data into BI databases

    • Works closely with scientists in the New Biological Entities – Pharmacokinetics group to execute research plans

    • Prepares clear technical reports and oral presentations; Presents responsibly and defends own work

    Requirements

    • Must be a Graduate Student in good academic standing.

    • Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.

    • Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.5 (on 4.0 scale)

    Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

    • Ongoing graduate degree in applied mathematics, biomedical engineering, statistics, Immunology, systems biology, pharmacology, or related fields.

    • Proficiency in modeling and simulation programming software, such as Julia, MATLAB, R, Python or others.

    • Experience with applying AI and machine learning techniques to clinical data is desirable.

    • Basic knowledge of PK/PD or quantitative systems pharmacology is desirable.

    • Good writing and oral communication skills

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

    • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

    • Must be 18 years of age or older

     

    Compensation Details
