Purpose
Lead complex engineering, design, and analysis activities for overhead electrical transmission and distribution (T&D) systems. Serve as a technical subject matter expert, overseeing project execution, directing engineering teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and delivering high-quality solutions that meet client needs. Provide advanced technical leadership, project coordination, and strategic guidance across multiple T&D projects.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
+ Receive direction primarily on broad project objectives, with responsibility for determining technical approaches and execution methods.
+ Lead engineering efforts for major tasks or entire projects, providing day-to-day technical direction, oversight, and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
+ Ensure engineering teams execute work efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with project goals and company standards.
+ Contribute to developing and maintaining internal technical standards and best practices.
At the Operational and Company Level
+ Support business development efforts by contributing to proposal development, cost estimating, and client strategy discussions.
+ Champion quality assurance processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives in design workflows and technical standards.
+ Serve as a resource for cross-functional coordination, knowledge sharing, and technical training within the organization.
Do the Work
+ Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of overhead transmission and distribution lines using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE for various voltages, structures, and configurations.
+ Perform and review structure modeling, conductor sag/tension analysis, plan/profile development, and loading evaluations.
+ Oversee or prepare engineering drawings, calculation packages, design reports, and material lists.
+ Review vendor calculations, drawings, specifications, and submittals for accuracy and compliance.
+ Develop proposals, work scopes, and cost estimates to support new and ongoing projects.
+ Manage project tasks, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and technical quality.
+ Conduct and lead site visits, field assessments, surveys, and data verification activities.
+ Provide technical solutions and troubleshooting support for complex or non-standard design challenges.
+ Ensure all engineering work complies with NESC requirements, client standards, and industry best practices.
+ Coordinate closely with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.
+ Serve as a primary technical point of contact for clients, providing clear communication, technical expertise, and responsive support.
+ Cultivate strong client relationships through reliability, problem-solving capability, and high-quality deliverables.
+ Understand client technical expectations and ensure design outputs meet or exceed project requirements.

Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution required.
+ 7+ years of relevant industry experience in transmission or distribution line design required.
+ Advanced proficiency in PLS-CADD required; familiarity with PLS-POLE and complex line modeling strongly preferred.
+ Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
+ Demonstrated experience delivering complete engineering design packages for utility clients.
+ Strong understanding of NESC requirements, utility standards, and industry best practices.
+ Proven ability to lead projects, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and coordinate multidisciplinary tasks.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD tools.

+ Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.

+ Occasional outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
+ Occasional mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
+ Occasional local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
