Eligible for a hybrid flexible work assignment within Colorado and may be required to work on site at 1525 Sherman St Denver CO 80203 as necessary to meet business needs.
Hiring Pay Rate
While a salary range is posted for this position, any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state service as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While all offers are compliant with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, there is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.

Description of Job
This position is expected to work 20 hours per week from January 8, 2026 through Jun 30, 2026
The Workforce Solutions Program Media Intern supports statewide outreach and engagement for the Pathways to Public Service initiative. This role assists in developing digital and in-person communication strategies designed to increase awareness of skills-based hiring, work-based learning opportunities, and secondary-to-state-service pathways. The intern contributes to social media content creation, brand development, storytelling, campaign planning, and event preparation. The position also represents Workforce Solutions at job fairs, community events, school engagement activities, and stakeholder meetings. This internship provides hands-on experience in public sector communications, digital media, workforce development initiatives, and cross-agency collaboration.
This internship is designed to support both the needs of the unit and academic learning outcomes. Workforce Solutions is committed to partnering with schools, colleges, and university programs to ensure internship requirements are met, including reflective assignments, supervision expectations, project documentation, or learning assessments. The intern will gain hands-on experience in public-sector communications, campaign strategy, stakeholder outreach, and statewide workforce initiatives, with opportunities for skill development in partnership with their academic program.
A summary of the duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Social Media & Digital Content Creation
+ Create graphics, videos, and written content.
+ Maintain a consistent posting schedule across platforms.
+ Monitor engagement trends and recommend improvements.
+ Develop content for newsletters, recruitment materials, and the Pathways to Public Service webpage.
+ Ensure all products follow DPA branding, accessibility standards, and equity-centered communication practices
Community, School, and Job Fair Outreach
+ Support event preparation at job fairs, school events, and community outreach activities.
+ Assist with logistics, information distribution, and stakeholder engagement.
+ Capture photos and short stories from events to integrate into future communication efforts
Campaign & Branding Support
+ Assist in developing thematic campaigns for Pathways to Public Service.
+ Contribute to the creation of branded materials, visual assets, and messaging strategies.
+ Participate in concept development sessions and research platform trends and audience needs.
Professional Learning & School Coordination
+ Participate in regular check-ins focused on learning goals, skill development, and project progress.
+ Complete school-required documentation, reflective assignments, or evaluations when applicable.
+ Apply academic concepts to real-world project work with coaching and feedback from Workforce Solutions and Communications staff.
+ Collaborate with supervisors to align internship requirements with project opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:
+ Experience creating content for digital and social media platforms (personal, academic, or professional), including photo and video skills.
+ Experience supporting events, student organizations, clubs, community activities, or class projects through communications, marketing, journalism, or digital media.
+ Experience using design or editing tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar.
OR
+ Coursework or experience in communications, journalism, marketing, digital media, political science, public administration, or a related field preferred, but not required.
The exceptional candidate will possess the proven ability or accomplishment in the following preferred qualifications:
+ Excellent written communication skills
+ Excellent attention to detail.
+ Ability to tailor both written and verbal communications for a variety of audiences.
+ Ability to create engaging, accessible, and brand-aligned content across platforms.
+ Basic understanding of social media trends, analytics, and audience engagement.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with program managers, communications staff, and external partners.
+ Ability to meet deadlines and contribute to multiple projects at one time.
+ Ability to represent the program professionally at public events.
+ Ability to learn new software or digital tools.
+ An interest in working in public service, public communications, civic engagement, or workforce development.
+ Awareness of the nonpartisan nature of state government messaging and sensitivity to accuracy and public trust.
+ Any coursework or certificates related to digital media, marketing, communications, or graphic design.
+ Involvement in student newspaper, campus tv/radio, or social media management.
+ Volunteer work for nonprofits or student government.
