As a Senior Principal Engineer inside the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Media Services team, you will provide key technical guidance and function as a senior lead developer in the development, delivery and operation of cloud services that will enable delivery of novel consumer video applications.
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing team building new products that are redefining streaming, transforming how content creators engage audiences and unlock new revenue streams through cloud-native innovation. You will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, real-time systems enabling intelligent content delivery, dynamic interactivity, and monetization—all built on globally distributed infrastructure. The environment is dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative.
You will partner closely with other engineers, as well as engineering and product leaders to chart a path to success, providing influence and direction based on significant experience as a lead developer. We are seeking an individual with extensive, hands-on experience leading design, development, delivery, and operation of enterprise-class cloud services. Prior experience in media technologies is required, with industry expertise in at least one of the following areas: Real-Time Communication Systems (using WebRTC), Video Streaming, Social Graphs, Recommendation Engines, or other areas related to the development of cloud-based Interactive Media or Social Networking systems.
Senior Principal Engineer is an individual contributor role that is among the more senior technical positions in Oracle Cloud. We seek individuals with highly evolved soft skills in addition to technical acumen. As a technical leader, you will mentor other engineers, collaborate with leads in other teams, and must be capable of driving complex technical projects and assignments with a high degree of autonomy. You are expected to be a recognized thought leader, mentor, and role model for other engineers. As a hands-on contributor, you must have demonstrated ability and comfort writing and reviewing everything from vision documents to designs to code.
Responsibilities
+ Architect, design, and drive development of cloud services. Your work is considered a model for others to follow across OCI, with demonstrated expertise ensuring availability, scalability, observability, and testability are always considered.
+ Assume end-to-end technical ownership for complex, distributed cloud services. Raise the collective capability of the group through active mentorship and coaching of engineering staff.
+ Provide awareness, thought leadership, and expertise in emerging technologies, industry best practices, ensuring compliance and driving innovation within the organization.
+ Collaborate with architects and peer technical leads and senior leadership across the organization to define, shape, and achieve visions for both product and technology.
+ Engage with geographically distributed engineering teams across the group as a recognized technical authority.
+ Partner with other engineering leaders to define, institute, and model effective software development standards, processes, and best practices.
+ Assist in the definition of OKRs and KPIs to inform decision making and prioritization.
Qualifications
+ BS/CS Computer Science or related field and 8+ years software development experience using modern programming languages. Expertise with Java, Go, or another object-oriented language is required.
+ Proven experience as a hands-on senior technical lead in large-scale software development, specifically for complex cloud services and distributed systems. Must be comfortable writing and reviewing code.
+ Industry expertise is required in Real-Time Communication Systems (using WebRTC), Video Streaming, Social Graphs, Recommendation Engines, or other areas related to the development of cloud-based Interactive Media or Social Networking systems.
+ Prior success as a hands-on architect or development lead on “greenfield” projects for cloud services.
+ Expertise in development, deployment, and operations of highly scalable cloud microservices using Kubernetes.
+ A deep understanding of how to build cloud services end-to-end. Act as a credible expert and resource for others in the group.
+ Recognized capability of building, running, and maintaining highly available services in a DevOps environment as an authoritative technical leader. Follows, influences, and shapes processes for maintaining quality, including failure root cause analysis.
+ Experience collaborating with geographically distributed teams.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
