Job Summary
Are you eager to build hands-on welding skills in a collaborative, innovative environment? As a Welder Intern at Vermeer, you’ll support the production of high-quality equipment while learning foundational welding techniques and safety practices. You’ll work alongside experienced welders, contribute to a culture of excellence, and gain exposure to real-world manufacturing processes.
What You’ll Do
1. Assist with completing weldments in various positions according to blueprints and welding procedure specifications, following Vermeer Welding Standards.
2. Prepare, position, and align components using fixtures; bolt, clamp, and tack weld parts to secure them for final welding.
3. Safely operate and maintain welding equipment, including oxyfuel cutting (OFC) torches, under supervision.
4. Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and work instructions; apply decimal-based measurements to ensure precision and quality.
5. Access digital drawings and work instructions via computer systems to support accurate weld execution.
6. Identify welding defects and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions to maintain product quality.
7. Support 5S and workplace organization goals by maintaining a clean and efficient work area.
What We’re Looking For
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma, General Educational Development (GED), or equivalent by the start of employment.
- Must be currently pursuing a post-secondary degree or credential (associate’s, diploma, certificate, or equivalent) at an accredited institution, with full-time student status following completion of the internship experience.
- Interest in welding, manufacturing, or related technical fields; prior coursework or hands-on experience preferred but not required.
- Willingness to learn and successfully complete Vermeer’s Weld Training Program, including American Welding Society (AWS) Gas Metal Arc Welding – Pulsed (GMAW-P) certification to the D14.0 standard.
- Ability to read blueprints, interpret welding symbols, and apply decimal-based measurements.
- Basic computer skills to access digital work instructions and drawings.
- Ability to work safely, adapt to changing situations, and collaborate with team members.

Work Location
