Description
Position Summary:
A Community Resources Navigator connects individuals with local services and support systems, such as housing, healthcare, and job training, by assessing needs, providing referrals, and helping overcome barriers like transportation, housing or food assistance. Key responsibilities include collaborating with service providers and offering ongoing guidance and encouragement to help people achieve meet their needs. The person serving in this position also has responsibilities and duties that include serving as the first point of contact, answering phones, directing visitors, and managing the reception area.
Qualifications
Essential Job Functions:
+ Identifying and referring clients to relevant community services, including healthcare (like federally qualified health centers), housing assistance, counseling, financial aid, food assistance, shelter services, donation resources (clothing, household goods, etc) and educational or vocational programs.
+ Evaluating a client's situation to understand their specific needs and barriers to accessing support, which may include issues like bare necessities, transportation, health literacy, or insurance.
+ Assisting clients in navigating complex systems while offering a supportive, non-judgmental approach.
+ Collaborating and communicating with various service providers and organizations to coordinate the delivery of services for clients.
+ Acting as a liaison with participants, stakeholders, and partners; disseminating program materials.
+ Greet and welcome visitors, ensure a positive first impression, and manage the check-in process.
+ Answer, screen, and forward phone calls, take messages, and handle inquiries via phone, email, or in person.
+ Direct visitors to the correct person or office and assist with scheduling or providing information.
+ Keep the reception area clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
+ Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages.
+ Monitor security procedures, control access, and manage visitor logs or badges.
+ Assist other departments with tasks like coordinating events, preparing documents, assisting at events as needed, providing first aid support at agency sponsored events.

Essential Qualifications:
Certifications/Licensures:
+ Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required;
+ CPR Certification, First Aid Certification
Education:
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Experience and Competencies:
+ A genuine desire to help others and understand their challenges.
+ To effectively communicate with diverse clients and service providers.
+ Excellent ability to plan, organize, and manage activities and resources.
+ To help clients and navigators overcome barriers.
+ Familiarity with the local community's services and support systems.
+ Must possess sound judgment and be able to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable transportation is necessary.
