    Job Summary

    KUER 90.1, the NPR member station broadcasting from the University of Utah, is looking for a Graphic Design & Social Media Intern. The successful candidate will provide support for KUER’s development department and audience engagement initiatives by assisting with events, social media campaigns and more. The position will run from January 2026 through April 2026.

    Responsibilities

    + Work closely with KUER’s development team to assist with community engagement events and fundraising efforts.

    + Assist with KUER’s donor and community engagement events, including:

    1. Assist with pre-event planning and set-up (tasks may include designing print assets, such as table tents and name tags, brainstorming event décor, and helping to create centerpieces).

    2. Help with day-of event set-up/take-down and guest check-in.

    3. Coordinate with communications specialist to strategize/assist with event social media.

    + Assist with promotion for KUER’s fundraising efforts, including:

    1. Using Canva or other graphic design software to create templates and other social media graphics; Filming and photographing staff activities for social media use.

    2. Assist with organizing fund drive assets, including categorizing and logging audio testimonials, donor comments, and more.

    3. Work closely with the development team to strategize social media campaigns around fundraising and audience engagement.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Preferences

     

    + Experience working and planning events.

    + Graphic design experience – including experience working the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and/or Canva.

    + Experience working with social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, BlueSky).

    + Understanding of public radio and its mission and programs.

    + Understanding of a nonprofit media environment and fundraising strategies.

    + Ability to work effectively with multiple departments throughout a large organization.

    + Strong communication skills, intermediate graphic design skills, and an understanding of social media, including either professional or personal experience.

    + Good computer and organization skills.

    + Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
