Job description
Summary:
The Final (Return to Service) Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities performed on aircraft components meet regulatory, customer, and organizational requirements. This role certifies that items are airworthy and in compliance with FAA Part 145 regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures before being returned to service. Reports to MRO Quality Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Perform final inspection of articles undergoing maintenance to determine airworthiness prior to return to service.
• Ensure all work has been completed in accordance with applicable data, regulations, and procedures.
• Review and verify documentation, such as work orders, test data, logbooks, and engineering instructions.
• Sign FAA Form 8130-3 and other return-to-service documentation as an authorized inspector.
• Ensure traceability and certification of parts and materials used during maintenance.
• Coordinate with technicians and other inspectors to resolve discrepancies or documentation issues.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FAA regulations, company policies, and applicable OEM/CMM documentation.
• Perform audits of work-in-progress and completed work as required.
• Support internal and external audits (FAA, EASA, customer).
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and protection of articles.
• Maintain inspection tools and test equipment in accordance with calibration requirements.
• Document findings, rejections, and corrective actions in accordance with company quality systems.
• Regular, predictable attendance is required.
• Must be willing to work overtime to meet customer demands.

• Must have demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Work is performed in office and shop environments. Noise level is moderate.
• May require standing, walking, lifting, and bending for extended periods.

Candidate skills & requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Current Airframes/Powerplants (A&P) license or ability to meet the requirements to obtain an FAA Repairman Certificate.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical training or aviation-related coursework preferred.
• Experience with an FAA Part 145 Repair Station inspection role or equivalent environment.
• Familiarity with FAA regulations, including FAR Part 43, 65, and 145.
• Experience reading and interpreting technical data: CMMs, drawings, specifications, and maintenance records.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, ERP/MRO software, digital inspection tools).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced maintenance environment.
• Must be able to pass background check and drug screening as required by FAA regulations.
