    Job Description

    The admissions specialist provides administrative and clerical support to the Admission and Student Affairs efforts at Inver Hills Community College and Dakota County Technical College. This position coordinates the admissions process and administers the flow and documentation of student records necessary in the admissions process. Duties include monitoring student acceptance, waitlist placement, or denial into programs of study.

     

    The admissions specialist is responsible for the accurate management of the applicant and student modules within the Integrated Statewide Record System (ISRS). They will provide direction to other staff in relation to admissions, computer functions and student records. This role also maintains the critical link between Student Affairs, faculty, and staff, and works collaboratively with Dakota County Technical College

    Minimum Qualifications

    Knowledge of:

    + Word processing sufficient to use software to create, format, edit, print, and save a variety of documents, letters, memos, emails, etc

    Ability To:

    + Answer questions politely via phone, email, and other written or electronic correspondence.

    Skill in:

    + Customer Service sufficient to (1) Schedule and confirm customers’ appointments in person, on the phone, and through email and other written or electronic correspondence; (2) Provide prompt and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written or electronic correspondence.

    + Database management sufficient to develop and maintain databases.

    Preferred Qualification

    + Post-secondary degree.

    + Experience working in higher education setting.

    + Experience providing direct service to internal and external stakeholders in higher education.

    + Experience using Minnesota State databases such as the Integrated State Record System (ISRS), D2L and e-Services.

    + Experience with Connect - Customer Relation Management system.

    + Knowledge and understanding of data privacy laws (ex: FERPA).

    + Self-motivated/self-disciplined.

    + Ability to think critically.

    Physical Demands

    + Occasional moving of articles and objects (up to 25 lbs.).

    + Maintain a stationary position or moving for a prolonged period of the day

    + Use a keyboard and phone for extended periods of time which may include repetitive motion.
