Join Our Molecular Diagnostics Team: Dive into Hands-On Science This Summer!

Are you ready to roll up your lab coat sleeves and make a real impact? Our Molecular Diagnostics team is on the lookout for a curious, motivated intern who’s excited to get hands-on with groundbreaking work in molecular diagnostics and oncology. If you love asking “why?” and “what if?”, and you’re eager to turn classroom knowledge into real-world results, this is your chance to be part of something meaningful.

What you’ll be up to during your 10-12 week adventure:

+ Prepping samples for molecular diagnostic and oncology applications (think: blood, plasma, serum, and more).

+ Putting your detective hat on to test and optimize new and existing lab workflows—lysis, extraction, PCR analysis… you name it!

+ Mixing up alternate reagent formulations to see what works best (science is all about experimenting, after all).

+ Confirming assay performance across a variety of clinical specimens.

+ Designing and running experiments, analyzing your data, documenting findings, and sharing what you discover with the team.

    Who we’re hoping to meet:

    + You can work full-time during the summer (May/June - August/September).

+ You’re currently working on your Bachelor’s degree, with at least one semester left after the internship.

+ Your major is in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Microbiology, or something similar.

+ You’re heading into your junior or senior year.

+ You know how to get your point across, whether you’re writing or speaking.

+ You have basic molecular biology lab skills (pipetting, buffer prep, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, etc.).

+ You’re familiar with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

+ You’re a problem solver who’s not afraid to ask questions and try new things.

Location, pay & other important details:

+ You can work **onsite** at our **San Diego, CA** campus. **Heads up:** intern housing, relocation, and housing stipends aren’t provided, so you’ll need to have your living situation and transportation sorted out.

+ Pay range: $22 - $28 per hour, based on your class standing and operational function.

+ The chance to work with a team that’s genuinely invested in your growth.

+ Networking, mentorship, and skill-building opportunities—all designed to help you thrive.

Take your internship to the next level at Hologic!

When you join Hologic as a Summer Intern, you’re not just clocking in for a job—you’re jumping into a global team full of motivated, creative, and dedicated people (basically, your future favorite coworkers). This is your chance to shine, show off what you know, and bring your energy and ideas to projects that make a real difference for people all over the world.

On top of hands-on experience in your field, our College Relations team will hook you up with opportunities to learn about the company, meet leaders, and build the skills you’ll need to launch your career. Consider this your backstage pass to the future of healthcare innovation.
