Our Life Sciences team is searching for a Data Analytics Intern to join us in San Francisco, CA. As an intern with our team you will assist us with projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients’ challenges locally and across the globe. Our team is putting our knowledge and imagination together to shape the next generation of innovative solutions.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our Analytics Team, collaborating with Professional Engineers, Project Managers, Subject Matter Experts, Solution Development Teams and Scientists, supplementing your education with real world experience. In this internship you will utilize identified data sources, and process and validate the data to produce insightful reports and dashboards which will highlight opportunities within the business, and help to determine the root causes of problems to be addressed. You will ork closely with your team to gather requirements, perform analysis and deliver data driven insights to provide recommendations on improvements to data capture and produce guidance documentation on best practices on data capture and reporting requirements. You will leverage your technical education to support our multi-discipline teams, in building data driven solutions that positively impact our clients and communities.
The ideal candidate will be highly analytical with a knack for math and statistics, have exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills to effectively interpret data, and demonstrate a passion for developing tools and systems that improve the day-to-way lives of our employees and optimize their ability to deliver to our clients. You will need excellent communication skills to present to internal project teams and external stakeholders (both technical and non-technical), produce technical reports/communications, participate in strategic discussions with your team and leadership. Your ability to independently manage your time and responsibilities effectively while maintaining a high standard work product without being closely directed, will be instrumental in delivering successful project outcomes.
Your expected tasks could include but are not limited to:
* Identify data sources and automate collection processes
* Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
* Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
* Perform analytics and maintenance of large database across multiple departments
* Carry out issue identification and analysis techniques, such as pattern analysis and root cause analysis, to help identify issues
* Develop documentation for the capture, validation and analysis of data within the team
* Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms
* Combine models through ensemble modeling
* Prepare and present information using data visualization techniques

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field from an accredited program
* Experience with programming languages (Python, R, SQL, etc)
* Advanced Excel skills (using formulas, pivot tables, etc for data analysis)
* Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS
* Familiarity with GitHub and/or Azure DevOps
* Knowledge of different modelling and data mining techniques
Ideally you will also have:
* Previous internship or project experience focused on analytics, and providing strong understanding of cloud platforms like Azure or AWS
* Experience in GitHub and/or Azure DevOps
* Experience in data mining. machine learning, data management, and or technology stacks
* Knowledge of Python, R, and SQL; familiarity or passion to learn JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, C#, and/or C++
