Laboratory Research Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Research Technician to work in a leading genotyping lab within the agriculture industry. This role involves conducting DNA research, handling chipping, extraction, and detection processes, and supporting various technical programs and manufacturing efforts.

Responsibilities

+ Handle chipping, extraction, and detection processes in DNA research.

+ Generate and evaluate lab-scale samples for customer technical programs.

+ Support product research programs and manufacturing decisions.

+ Troubleshoot and maintain equipment for production and routine processing.

+ Maintain detailed logs, notebooks, and computer records.

+ Conduct internet and information searches to assist in problem-solving.

+ Perform stoichiometric calculations using computer programs or hand calculations.

+ Follow EHS SOPs and Responsible Care guidelines for a safe work environment.

+ Manage multiple tasks and work effectively with technical supervisors and other functions.

+ Interface with manufacturing and research personnel and, if needed, directly with customers.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in Chemistry, Laboratory, and Biology.

+ Bachelor's Degree in a Science field such as Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Science.

+ 1+ year of lab experience is preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Ability to work in a highly automated environment.

+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Work Environment

Work in a large genotyping lab within the agriculture industry. The work environment is highly automated. There are multiple shifts available, including 1st shift from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 2nd shift from 3:00 pm to 2:00 am with a four-day workweek from Monday through Thursday, and 3rd shift from 1:00 am to 10:00 am. The number of openings per shift will be clarified once the position is finalized.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Ankeny, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
