Job Description
The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute heavy civil and marine construction projects. This position is responsible for ensuring technical accuracy, compliance with specifications, and maintaining timely documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
+ Review engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals for compliance with project requirements.
+ Assist in scheduling, budgeting, and procurement of materials and equipment.
+ Maintain project logs, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and daily reports.
+ Perform quantity take-offs and assist with cost estimates.
+ Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
+ Facilitate communication between clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
+ Identify and resolve technical issues during construction.
+ Ensure all work meets DOT, USACE, and industry standards.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
+ 1–3 years of experience in construction or engineering, including internships.
+ Familiarity with heavy civil, bridge, or marine construction.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
+ Strong organizational and communication skills.
+ Ability to work in field conditions and travel as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of DOT specifications and marine construction practices.
+ Experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools.
+ OSHA safety training certification.
+ 2+ years of project engineering experience with projects over $15 million.
+ Experience with Procore/Bluebeam, heavy civil construction, marine construction, highway construction, railroad, and foundation construction.
+ Nice to have experience in marine, open water, shoreline construction.
Work Environment
The position requires onsite presence 5 days a week at the corporate office, unless assigned to work for Electric Boat at the Groton Office. The New London location features a 250,000 sq ft fabrication shop, and the company owns all their equipment and fabricates their own parts, maintaining high standards suitable for military-grade projects. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
