    Job Title: Phlebotomist

    Job Description

    The primary function of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various duties including troubleshooting, training, and providing recommendations to improve workflow.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate work areas.

    + Update patient information and collect specimens according to established procedures.

    + Explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

    + Understand and follow all physician orders accurately.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure correct labeling and processing.

    + Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.

    + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.

    + Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to provide information.

    Essential Skills

    + Phlebotomy certification valid for the state of employment.

    + Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    + High School Diploma or GED.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience in patient care, venipuncture, specimen collection, and laboratory procedures.

    + Knowledge of using both straight and butterfly needles.

    + Familiarity with pediatric and geriatric care.

    + 0-2 years of experience in the healthcare field.

    Work Environment

    This position requires working in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environment. The role involves utilizing various technologies and equipment for specimen collection and processing. Candidates should be comfortable adhering to safety regulations and protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.50/hr.
