Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Power Systems Engineering group. This role involves designing and integrating hydraulic, pneumatic, and cooling water systems for hydro turbine and generator units, primarily for U.S. projects. The position offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to take technical responsibility throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

+ Design various auxiliary hydraulic, pneumatic, and cooling water systems for hydroelectric turbine units.

+ Oversee, direct, and perform engineering work related to the design of these systems.

+ Manage and coordinate project work with associates.

+ Create written specifications for the design, manufacture, and installation of hydraulic governor equipment, hydraulic cylinders, pressure vessels, and auxiliary systems/skids.

+ Specify pumps, motors, valves, fittings, oil, instrumentation, etc., to meet contract requirements and industry standards.

+ Ensure successful integration with other systems by collaborating with mechanical/electrical interfacing engineers.

+ Resolve technical issues related to projects onsite and remotely.

+ Assist project management with technical tasks related to hydro-turbine refurbishment.

+ Review quotes and purchase orders for technical completeness.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

+ 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience.

+ 4+ years of 3D modeling experience.

+ Strong technical writing skills for procedures and communication with site and shops.

+ Experience with instrumentation such as gauges, transmitters, flowmeters, etc.

+ Experience with the design of hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or cooling water systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Manufacturing experience (welding, machining, and/or casting) and site experience is a plus.

+ Professional Engineer license is a plus.

+ Experience in power system design, plumbing design, pneumatics, and SKID.

+ Experience with Solidworks and new product development.

Work Environment

The position is based in an office environment, with occasional travel to customer locations, project sites, or other offices. The role requires up to 10-15% travel domestically and abroad as necessary.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Charlotte, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
