    Mechanical Design Engineer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The role involves designing plant layouts and equipment layouts, performing in-house mechanical design for capital expansion projects, and renovations of existing facilities. The position requires experience with HVAC systems, plumbing, piping, gas, and fire sprinkler systems. This role also includes project management and client-facing business development responsibilities.

    Responsibilities

    + Design and implement plant layouts and equipment layouts.

    + Perform in-house mechanical design for capital expansion and renovation projects.

    + Manage projects and coordinate with two engineers, one PE, and one junior engineer.

    + Engage in client-facing business development activities.

    + Use Plant3D and AutoCAD for various projects, including pet food plants, chemicals, and food & beverage industries.

    + Design process piping, select equipment, and prepare material lists and contract documents for industrial projects.

    + Provide preliminary design documents, including conceptual designs, technical specifications, and site plans.

    Essential Skills

    + Expertise in plant design, AutoCAD 2D, and Plant 3D.

    + Proficiency in equipment layout, dust collection, mechanical engineering, and industrial engineering.

    + Experience in mechanical design, process improvement, and systems engineering.

    + Ability to manage capital projects.

    + Professional Engineer (PE) certification or the ability to obtain it within one year.

    + Minimum of 6 years of experience in an industrial background, specifically in construction and manufacturing CAPEX work.

    + Minimum of 5 years of design experience in AutoCAD 2D, Plant 3D, and Revit.

    + Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with PE or having passed the FE exam.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience with Bluebeam, 3D Scanner, Navisworks, and MEP design.

    + Ability to execute plant layout design in Plant 3D.

    + Proven success in running projects valued between $5-10 million.

    + Experience in the Food & Beverage, Agricultural, Mineral Processing, and Power Industries.

    + Strong working relationships with customers, contractors, fabricators, and vendors.

    Work Environment

    The office is centrally located in the Regency district of Omaha, providing easy access to the Dodge Expressway and the interstate. The area offers convenient shopping and dining options. The office features updated technology and a professional work environment, where the Mechanical Engineer will have their own cubicle area. The role is predominantly in-office, with some on-site work involving 3D laser scanning at new customer sites. The firm is small, consisting of about 15 employees, fostering a collaborative and supportive work atmosphere.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $135000.00/hr.
