Job Title: MIG Welder
Job Description
The Welder is responsible for fabricating and welding metal components according to blueprints and specifications. This role involves operating welding equipment, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining a safe work environment. Welders will MIG weld parts such as leg stands, cab shields, engine mounts, light bars, and more. They also perform MIG tack welding to hold two pieces of steel together in place prior to finishing welding. Additionally, there is a focus on cosmetic MIG welds for VBOX Hopper Spreaders, which require straight line MIG welds in various positions.
Responsibilities
+ Fabricate and weld metal components according to blueprints and specifications.
+ Operate welding equipment to perform high-quality welds on steel and possibly aluminum using MIG welding techniques.
+ MIG weld parts such as leg stands, cab shields, engine mounts, and light bars.
+ Perform MIG tack welding to secure steel pieces before finishing.
+ Execute cosmetic MIG welds for finished products, requiring straight line MIG welds in position and out of position.
+ Visually inspect welds for quality and adherence to specifications.
+ Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in MIG welding on steel and possibly aluminum.
+ Experience welding stainless steel with thickness from 14 gauge to 3/4 inch plate.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications.
+ Fabrication skills including cutting, grinding, and fitting metal parts.
+ Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
+ Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials, and work in various positions.
+ Knowledge of workplace safety practices and PPE use.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Around 2-3 years of experience working as a welder in a manufacturing environment from a welding trade school.
+ Attention to detail with precision in measurements and weld quality.
+ Time management skills to meet production deadlines without compromising quality.
+ Teamwork and collaboration with other welders, fabricators, and engineers.
+ Problem-solving skills to identify and correct welding or fabrication issues.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochelle, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
