The Spencerport School District is currently accepting applications for a Data Management Specialist at Spencerport High School.Candidates must be eligible for appointment as Data Management Specialist, as per the rules and regulations of the Monroe County Department of Human Resources and Civil Service.
Job Summary: Data Management Specialist is responsible for providing computer support and assisting with the management of the District's information technology system, specifically as it relates to databases and student information. This role includes overseeing the Student Management System (SMS), which encompasses master scheduling, user support for staff, parents, and students, and ensuring accurate data entry and reporting. The specialist supports the implementation of consistent grading practices, supports instructional programs, assists with data needed to coordinate NYS and local assessments, and manages documentation for various student permissions and compliance requirements. Work involves creation of reports for internal use in the district, monitoring a quality improvement process, training and supporting staff, and coordinating and managing electronic reporting systems. The position requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with school administrators and instructional staff to ensure data integrity and alignment with district policies.Key Responsibilities:
+ Student Records & Compliance: Maintain accurate transcripts, Regents exam records, graduation reports, and college credit documentation.
+ Scheduling & Course Management: Assists with building the master schedule, manage original course requests, resolve conflicts, and handle overload courses, independent studies, and dual credit/AP programs.
+ Reporting & Analysis: Generate quarterly, annual, and summer school reports.
+ Academic Tracking: Monitor grades, honor/high honor roll lists, grade changes, and teacher grade submissions.
+ Collaboration: Work closely with building staff and administration to manage caseloads, student constraints, avoid lists, and staffing reports
+ Special Programs: Support post-secondary planning, college and career initiatives, honors passes, and Senior privileges.
+ Data Integrity: Dobule-check transcripts, resolve inaccuracies, and ensure compliance with district and state standards.
Minimum Qualifications: EITHER:(A) Bachelors degree plus one (1) year of full, or part-time equivalent experience involving database creation and management, computer systems analysis or systems design, OR(B) Associates degree plus three (3) years of full, or part-time equivalent experience involving database creation and management, computer systems analysis or systems design, OR(C) Five (5) years of full, or part-time equivalent experience involving database creation and management, computer systems analysis or systems design, OR(D) Any equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by (A), (B), and (C) above.Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working in a student management system (i.e. Infinite Campus); knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, CSV Editor, SQL Server,Visual Studio and database structures and functionality (Schoology, Naviance, rSchool, Lifetouch, Castle Learning); knowledge of NYSED guidelines and reporting; experience interacting with third party software vendors; experience with managing electronic assessments (i.e. report cards, transcripts); ability to design training material and effectively train end users; exemplary communication, organization and problem-solving skills.Work Year: Full-time, 40 hours; 12-monthsStart date: As soon as possibleSalary: $46,500 - $52,500 based on experience
