DESCRIPTION:

The Adult Education Teacher is responsible for classroom instruction and evaluating students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction and obtains or prepares instructional materials for classroom use; Provides learner guidance to students; Evaluates students' ongoing progress and performance in attaining goals and objectives; Promotes the adult education program to public and private organizations through the Service Delivery Area of the college; Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports;. Plans, organizes and participates in staff development and team conferences; Maintains a secure classroom environment; Recruits, supervises and directs classroom volunteers. Coordinates schedule for teacher substitutes and volunteers; Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

+ Teach Math and Science.

+ Preparation of lesson plans and counseling notes for classroom instruction

+ Evaluation of students' progress in attaining goals and objectives

+ Participates in staff development and staff meetings as required

+ Assists with post-testing, as needed

+ Follow curriculum and College and Career Readiness Standards (training provided)

+ Complete reports accurately and timely

+ Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere in the classroom

+ And any other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Elementary or Secondary Education with math focus and successful completion of a teaching practicum approved by the degree-granting institution; OR a bachelor's degree or higher in language and two years of professional classroom or formalized training, instruction, or teaching experience; OR Adult Education experience teaching language.

Completion of a bachelor's degree from a college or university.
