MANTECH** seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) **Systems Engineer** to join our team working in the **Washington D.C. Navy Yard.** This is a **Hybrid** position requiring at least **3 days on site and 2 days remote per week.
Responsibilities
+ Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for Nimitz and Ford Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Aviation System Engineering Manager (SEM)
+ Collaborate with SUPSHIP Newport News to address AIMD system issues.
+ Provide written responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Departure from Specification (DFS), and Nuclear Liaison Action Request (NLAR)
+ Address technical issues with ship modernization efforts executed via Ship Change Documents (SCDs) and support development of new SCDs
+ Collect and issue Aviation Systems Government Furnished Information (GFI) packages to Newport News Shipbuilding.
+ Review technical data packages, engineering drawings, reports, logistics materials, and training deliverables; provide written technical recommendations.
+ Evaluate procurement, ship, and systems specifications and submit written proposals for change.
Minimum Qualifications
+ High school Diploma
+ 10+ years of experience with aviation intermediate maintenance department (AIMD) aboard aircraft carriers or large deck amphibious ships
+ Former active duty US Navy Aviation Limited Duty Officer (LDO), Chief Warrant Officer (CWO), or Chief Petty Officer (CPO).
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
+ Experience working within NAVSEA 05
+ Experience interfacing with non-technical leadership
+ Previous work experience with or at a shipyard, Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC), SUPSHIP, RMC, TYCOM, or similar organizations in support of construction, maintenance, modernization, or repair of shipboard airwing systems.
Clearance Requirements
+ Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active or current Secret security clearance
Physical Requirements
+ Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
+ Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
+ Must be able to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, and exchange accurate information effectively.
